![]() ![]() Their beach has eroded big time from the last hurricane, so, other hotel beaches will be better. Avoid their buffet as much as you can (it is left out in open, hot, humid air). Highly recommend you take a taxi into town at least once to sample one of the wonderful restaurants there.Ĭan't comment on Secrets and Iberostar, however, if you reserve Occidental, make sure to go with the Royal level room, it is their 1st tier room, food, and service that allows you private Royal level only ala carte restaurant and free room service from the Royal level restaurant and Royal level only pool (that is the one that is what the above poster mentioned about being in the middle of the mangroves) and, overall, you will get better service. Sunscape Saber had the better beach of the three, and since it’s connected to Secrets I would assume their beach is also good. The only time we’ve gotten sick on Cozumel after 40+ trips was during our two-night stay there. We ordered the chocolate cake for dessert and actually called the waiter over to make sure that’s what was served because it didn’t taste or look like chocolate. Even the specialty Mexican restaurant was very unimpressive. We thought the food, except for the breakfast buffet, was awful. One pool was in the middle of the mangroves with no view, so didn’t go to that one. ![]() Occidental: rooms were bigger and more modern however, we didn’t like the long walk on a boardwalk through mangroves to get to the beach and pools. The beach was fine you need water shoes but you need them at most places on Cozumel. Iberostar: We liked the hut-like rooms, the pool, the food, and the layout/landscaping there. They could also watch us coming in on the boat from the lunch area. We’ve stayed at Iberostar and Occidental but not Secrets (although we have stayed at Sunscape Sabor, which is connected to and beside Secrets). It was fine though and the shore was not rocky so you could walking in and out which was nice.įriends we had with us parked on the beach backed up again the back of the pool wall by the bar and the Santos handed down drinks all day. The beach at the grand is more a narrow strip between the wall of the pool and the water. However, we could hear the party at Allegro across the jungle. Now we are divers, so we turned in early. Next stay they didn't even hit us up for it. We did the thing first time and got booze and shirts. (Longer if you leave your computer in your room and your op says we will wait while you run to the room.) The grand has a little longer walk to the beach/breakfast area from the rooms. That being said, my wife I think liked the grand more. Coming back from eating it is WAY easy to get lost wandering around on these pretty curvy paths. The layout of these little quad rooms is confusing as heck. Personal peeve: they charge other dive ops to pick up there a monthly fee regardless of number of divers. I think they had an equipment issues, but you had to go to the lobby. I used the BB to get my email.Īt the time, Wifi sucked out near the pool and beach. You have to walk out the dock and enter via a sort of stair ladder thing.Ĭell service on Sprint at least was poor. They don't bug you but they do some cute stuff. Ibero had a fajita bar running fresh fajitas. It was still AI food and nothing like some choices in town, but good. Terrific beach with a beach bar, chairs and palm trees larger than grand (See cons on beach too)įood was better than Grand, generally. ![]() You get a little porch outside your door. This was a little thing I wrote up when someone asked:Ĭute rooms in smaller concrete buildings. ![]() Like both of them and they are REALLY close to the dive sites. We stayed awhile back at both the Iberostar and the Occidental Grand Cozumel. ![]()
